The geography of food is around and within us. In 2017, a member of the Collective set out to discover what a group of people could uncover about a specific neighbourhood. With the support of The Substation and Tanah, a group of people gathered to take a walk in the neighbourhood of Aljunied Crescent.
Sketching-in-progress: growing and eating spaces in the neighbourhood A faint sketch of a cat-accessible space What are important factors to look out for? What we know about food spaces A map of thoughts about food’s function: sensorium-based relationships with food instead of functional, transactional, utilitarian modes of engaging with food.
Over our time mapping with people, we’ve come to see how truly creative, thoughtful, and humane a group of people working together can be, when space for insight is provided.
Want to take a tour down Aljunied Crescent yourself, to trace our path? You can do exactly that. Download the workshop guide – which has more design tips – and go with a friend or partner, or more 🙂
This workshop was created and organised with support from Tanah, The Substation, and was co-led by Huiying Ng and Calvin Chua. Calvin runs the architectural design firm Spatial Anatomy.
